Playing with animation

Today I started working on a short animation. I’ve never done a really elaborate animation before but today I decided to draw images in photoshop that I would insert to Flash. I started of drawing these frames at mid-day and I’ve just kept grinding since then. Im up to 93 images/frames right now and its aalmost finnished but I’ll take a break from it now.

In heinsight I realize that this was a horrible way to spend a saturday :D. Woorking by the computer is the last thing i need on a weekend but it is looking good so its worth it.

Pretty laptop bags

Ive been searching for a laptop bag these last couple of days and about 95% of everything I’ve seen has been preeetty boring. I dont want a bag that lookas all corporate and sad I want it to look fun and happpy :D.

Im not sure if I’ve found my future bag yet but I thought I’d post some fun ones ive come across so far.

Purple is my favourite color so this bg really poped out for me. i saw it on Etsy :]

A backpack would be the most comfterbul choice, and I really like the retro feel of it. It gives me some sort of basketbal/old school hiphop vibe :D.

Music thats awesome to work to

Earlier today while i was working my boyfriend started playing this really kool bossanova/ samba music on spotify.  I loved it so much that I wanted to share it with you and quickly made this bossanova/samba inspired illustration i call ”Samba do gato” for this post. :D.

I find that some music really enhances workflow. For me the songs usually have to have some nice drumbeat or nice flowy melody that kind of ”rolls on”. I think its the same kind of music thats awesome to walk to (if you know what I mean? :D ). Good workflow music gets you really focused on what your doing and at the same time makes you mindless. It turns you into a machine that goes on auto. ^^

What kind of music do you guys prefer to listen to while working?

I want me some Dwarf hamsters!

Today I thought of how fun it would be to have a dwarf hamster, or actually a couple of dwarf hamsters.

I had one when I was about 10 years old, her name was ”Mimmi”. She was suupercute, unfortunately I wasnt responsible enough to take care of her as well as I should have :(. 10 year olds should not be in charge of tiny lives!

If I bought one now I would definately buy a little tribe of them so they have their own little family, Mimmi was alone. I’d make sure they had a big home too, and some typ of fence or big box that I could lay out on the floor so they could play outside of their cage sometimes.

The only thing making me hesitate is that I’d like to know that I could atleast communicate with them somehow. I mean, dogs are easy to understand, they have so obvious expressions and they show you alot of love but I just cant remember how my Mimmi was.
I know my doggie Lula loves me and I love her alot too, it would feel very shallow to buy an animal you cant even communicate with just because they are cute :/
I must investigate! I have a friend who has some dwarf hamsters. I’ll ask him how the relationship with his hamsters are :D.

Btw, I read that they only live to about 1½ – 3 years wich is a plus! I mean, its easier to commit to a little animal that only lives 3 years compared to a dog that might live up to 15 years. I could give them 3 great years without ever getting tired of them! Sounds perfect to me.

I always thought it was my fault Mimmi died so young but i guess it was just her time to go. <3

New fun stuff

This dropped down my mailbox this morning. Enough material to create about 10 pair of earrings ^^. woho!

And Im just about to try out my new wacom intous 4! All I can say right now is that it atleast looks hot!

Third fun stuff of the day is that I just saw the background-settings here on kontain, I’ll try it out as soon as I get of work!

Indian earrings

Here are my ”indian earrings! :]

They are the second pair I made after understanding how to use and bend wires.

I really like the color purple and eventhought none of the pearls are purple they do give a feel of it. Here i bent the wires into a dimond shape to hang these beaded strings on. Im glad I found that little sequin-like leaf to add at the bottom, it added to the whole indian feel they had :].

Today Iv’e been working on some new earrings too, I find it difficult to stop. This is one problem I have, once I get the inspiration and creativity i could go on untill my body screeams that I need to sleep.

I have to learn to balance out all of my creativity somehow, restrict it to just a couple of hours ^^.

I’m getting a Wacom Intous 4

It’s decided! Tomorrow Im getting a new drawing pad, the medium size.

My old one, a wacom intous 3 a5, started having problems a couple of weeks ago and now its not getting any connection at all. I thought it had about 2+ years but digging for the warranty and all I figured out it was 3½ years old. Wow, time flies ^^.

So tomorrow I will be upgrading! Very exciting stuff :].

Golden heart earrings

This is a follow up on My new hobby wich is making earrings!

Here is the first pair I made, I really liked the colorcombination on these ones :].

I bent some golden wires I hade into these hearts and linked the hanging beads together.

When having a hundred of different beads its really a challange to match the beads, shapes and colors together. Thats what makes it so fun, that and the fact that you sit really focused trying to bend these wires. I’ve always loved working with my hands :].

My new hobby

These last couple of days Ive been creating earrings!

I’ve always just used my beads but this weekend i finally understood how to use the wires I have. :D

I started bending them into shapes so that I could hang several strings of beads on them. If you look at the photos you’ll understand ^^.

I still dont know how to use the little roll of strings that I have. I think its for doing necklaces and bracelets but I dont know how to tie or close the ends together (?). Its to hard to just tie and its too soft to bend into shapes. :/

Anyhow, the thing i need most of all are these wires so I bought some new gold-coloured ones yesterday ^^.

I’ll show you some of the earings I did during the weekend later today, so stay tuned!

Swine flu?

Yesterday i suddenly got really sick and Ive been lying in bed since.

Recently alot of people around me have gotten sick, one of them was my 1 year old cousin. The poor thing had a high fever so they took her to the hospital where they found out she had swine flu :(. Fortunately she could go back home the day after.

My boyfriend has been sick the past few days too, and now me. I instantly thought it might be the swine flu so I’ve bunkered up with alot of water, and movies ^^. I have to do something while lying in bed all day.

Yesterday I thought i’d google ”swineflue”, bad idea :D. All I read was ”Healthy man unexcpectadly  died of swineflue” and ”it can happen to anyone!”. Scaary. But I hardly believe media at all anymore. Not even statistics can be trusted.

Anyhow, now ill keep watching tv and play with beads. I thought I’d make a pair of earings today :].

Blog hesitations

As you might know I’ve been planning to create a blog for myself to use as a blog/ portfolio. Yesterday i had alot of time to work with it and got most of the job done. It felt great yesterday but today… iiih >_<. Its not looking right!

My first idea was that I wanted a really simple blog where all the focus would be on the posts and not have any distracting design but small illustrations here and there to add character. I’ve had the illustrations done since a couple of days but I just cant find a way to incorporate them nicely.

Roght now its just a big white blog with small illustrations,  its looking way too plain.

Im doubting the colours too, now Im thinking I want it to have more impact but thats also the exact opposite of what I wanted at  first :D.

Ive gone from wanting it to be as simple as possible to wanting it to be a statement.

Im thinking of using textures and really giving the entire site a strong look. Wich would be cool if I want it to be a porfolio too…

Right now when I look at it and how plain it is I just think of what Im actually capable of doing and that it would be sad to conform with something so simple. However, I also know thats since its such a personal project  It will be extremely hard to ever be satisfyed with it to a 100%.  Theres always new ideas and thoughts poppping up.

But it is actually looking to plain right now so if I could find some middle ground in between ”clean & simple” and ”themed with impact” it would be cool. :]

By the way, about an hour ago I suddenly started freezing and I felt a cold sneak up on me. Swineflue perhaps? :0

I hope not :(

When autumn turns bad

A couple of weeks ago I made an entry called Autumn leaves, and by then autumn was still pretty. You know, when the trees are all in bright collors all red, yellow, pink, orange, looking like a fairytale land. <3

But now its just passed that line going from sweet to horrible! I’ts freezing cold, windy and rainy/snowy.

Nostalgic findings!

These are 3 year old drawings and some of my first digital drawings ever, I had just gotten my wacom pad ^^.

Last  night I visited an old graphics forum I used to be active on a couple of years ago and I got the idea to look up all of the posts I had made. Amongst one of them I found a thread where I had posted a bunch of drawings and some of my first digital drawings ever! :D.

This thread was about 3 years old so I was pretty chocked to see all of these things I had forgotten I’ve even done. They were mostly pleasant suprises, especially because of all the nice feedback and comments I got. ^^

You might think 3 years isnt suuch a long time ago but it was about then that I went from drawing for fun to actually invest my time into it and really got into digital design. So to me it feels like it was a decade ago ^^

Now inspired by my old drawings I just started on a drawing in photoshop, painting freehand! No vectors this time. Im going back to the roots >_<

Went christmas shopping today

Yesterday I went on my first christmas shopping spree with my friend Claudi ^^

I had a whole list of things I was supposed to buy but it was soo crowded that the first reaction when coming in to a store was to run back out again. We both decided to head home after about 4 hours, feeling anxious and tired.

During the day a thought hit me – ”My god, this must be an average day in Japan! No, this would probably be a slow day in japan even :|..”.

Despite the stress and anxiety I did buy two things, none of them gifts :D.

I found this supercute wrapping paper with pretty cupcakes all over it , i had to have it! Wrapping paper isn’t only good for wrapping gifts, there’s lot’s of stuff you can do with it. I’ll probably show you an example in the future^^.

Besides the paper I had to buy the little wiener postcard i found too, it was so cheap, I couldnt resist ^^. In case you dont know I happen to be a proud owner of a little midget shorthaired wienerdog. <3 She’s my tiny homie.

I did go shopping today too and actually bought some stuff.. ^^. But I’ll write a post about it tomorrow. Now I’ll go watch some tv and eat an apple with a spoon.

My boyfriend thinks Im crazy for doing it but I’ve done it since I was little! :D

Is it a chilean or latin thing perhaps? Or am I just weird?

Textile colors, cool or not?

A couple of weeks ago I started thinking of how cool it could be to draw directly on to fabric.

I first got the idea when I was looking at pretty fabrics on ebay, they all had such cool patterns but they are really expensive. I then saw one piece that looked handpainted, it had a very organic feel and it looked funky so it got me thinking.. what if I could paint patterned fabric myself?

Allthough, now a couple of weeks later I realize that it probably woundt ever come to use so now Im now thinking that it would be cool to be able to paint unique illustrations on to t-shirts! (a little bit more contemporary and useful :D)

So I’ve been looking up textile colors (wich Ive never used) and Im wondering how good a handpainted image could really turn out. I want to paint directly on it with brushes but Im afraid it might make it look ”homemade”. Allthough I want it to look organic and artsy I dont want it to look crapy and cheap.

I googled a bit on it to see what other people have made but I mostly found handpainted silk, those drawn on to cotton werent very impressive. :/

If I’ll buy textile colors it will probably be the ones on the photo, a guy from grafisktforum.org recomended them :].

Does anyone here have some experience in painting directly on to fabric?

If anyone does it would be a miracle :D
