My Wacom tablets’ dying :/

A few days ago I noticed that there seems to be a glitch in the cable.

Now I have to keep adjusting the cable for it to get a connection :/. It is now slowly dying.

I’ve used my pad alot and I cant imagine being without one now so it might be a good idea to start looking at a new one.

I bought mine, a intous 3 size A5, for about two years ago. I havent seen any of the newer tablets so I’ll might find something cool, allthough this one has been perfect for me. I’ve seen the Cintiq and it looks awesome but the last time I checked it out it was reeeally expensive. :D But I’ll definately start looking up new tablets, if anything I could buy the same one again. I would probably find it for a really low price by now.

Untill then I’ll treasure the time I have left with my precious wacom. <3

Yesterdays painting

Yesterday I got the urge to paint!

I discovered an old cavas that hadn’t been used yet and my acrylics were standing right beside it so I thought I’d have a go.

I made a painting inspired by my new cat-character and ideas I’ve had for my blog. I didn’t find my good brushes yesterday so I did very basic work. It will however be this simple, I wont add depth to it or anything. Ill have to find my nicer brushes for the next time so I can give a nice finnish to the painting, nice edges, pretty details..

It will probably take more than a week before this one is done but I’ll keep posting the updates :]

Lula hates taking baths

Today I gave my stinky dog a bath :].

As soon as I start preparing her bathtime by taking out her little towels her tail goes between her legs and she slowely sneaks away and hides somewhere. Usually under a table or bed ^^, but she couldn’t escape it this time!

Becoming a handbag

I sewed a little this evening :].

I usually want to finnish things quickly but this time I’m drawing up every part, ironing, measuring, lining, sewing the seems straight and pretty. It has turned out really well, I should be able to finnish it tomorrow *woho*.

You might recognize the fabric Im using from one of my previous posts. My mom bought them for me at Ikea. Depending on how well this sewing thing goes I’ll might go to there and buy some more fabrics myself. (They were reeally cheap!”

Right now I have alot of greys, black and white fabrics, I’d like to have some birght  funky colors and patterns :].

Blog design details

As I mentioned before I really want to keep my blog simple with alot of white space and not have anything that is distracting. However I dont want to have a tootally white and blank blog so I will add fun and pretty images here and there to add character and colors. :]

This is an idea I had for the rss button:” Follow my blog!”. A conga-line seemed like the perfect image for it ^^

First Project Runway, then sleep

Today I:

• Started sewing a handbag
• Found a wordpress theme to use as a basic layout for my blog
• Started on the design for my blog

Now I’ll end this day by watching Project Runway.(The new season, dont ask me how I got it ^^)

Wonder what assignment they’ll get this week (?)… exciting!

By the way, hope you like the sloppy drawing I just made for this post :D. This cat is unintentionally starting to represent/become me. Im liking it ^^..

Pretty fabric

I was looking for pretty fabric on ebay and these are just some I loved. :]

I dont sew very often and Im definately not a pro but I really like it. To me sewing is a big problem-solving hobby. It starts out with an idea and then I somehow have to create it from scratch. Its alot of fun!

I wish I had this type of fabric to work with but I cant afford it. Im definately not good enough or active enough to be spending a bunch of money on it. If i’d come over some awesome bargain I would definately buy it but I have to brace myself a bit ^^.

This sudden creative spree Im on has made me wantas much material as possible but for the moment I have some cool stuff to work with. I’ll use the fabrics I have to excercise my sewing skils. :]

Paper buttons?

A couple of days ago I bought pretty buttons on an auction site. I got them delivered to me today but once I opened the letter I saw that they are made out of paper!! :0

The top of them has a thin layer of plastic but the backside is plain paper. I wanted to use them for future sewingprojects but this wont work :D. It never hit me to ask the seller if the buttons were made out of paper :S.

It must be some kind of decoration for scrapbooking. Buhu.

Oh well, atleast it didnt cost me much. This is the downside of buying cheap things online ^^.

Atleast they made a pretty blog post :].

Logo sketch

Yesterday I started working on the logo for my future blog.

At first I was working with capital bold letters but it wasnt giving the right feeling so I started  thinking about  this Magazine called ”Lula” that I remembered has a gorgeous font.

I googled what type of font they were using and read somewhere that they had it specially designed, wich got me thinking that I could design my logo from scratch too. I dont usually design fonts but this time I will only design it for my logo (not make an entire font-set). It doesnt have to be 100% perfect either, an organic feel could be cool.

When sketching this new idea I tried figuring out the things I liked about the Lula logotype and then tried to make it my own somehow.

It’s looking quite cute and elegant now and I like it, except the letter ”t” that’s looking strange. But I’m just not sure yet If it has the right ”feel”. I’ll probably keep sketching some more ideas before settling for this one :].

Creating my own blog

Lately I’ve been thinking of creating my own blog.

Allthough I love kontain and the nice people here I would like to have a site of my own where the design reflects me and I can gather all of my work. It would be a blog and a portfolio, two in one!

One issue Ive been having with my blogging is defining exactly what i want to post about. Untill a couple of weeks ago I was restricting myself to only blog about work and finnished projects but I would like to make it more personal and blog alot more often. Something I think would be suitable for a personal blog.

I was sketching different designs yesterday and I will definately try to keep it simple. I think photos are always best presented on a clear white background so I will probably just add small illustrations and details were fitted. :]

At first I was thinking of switching to write in swedish but Ive gotten so used to writing in English that theres really no point in changing. English it is and english it will be! ^^.

Happy bead creature

A couple of weeks ago I bought some beads on sale. I thought I’d use them for my handbag project but later on also started playing around with them, sewing them into shapes.

My first experiment turned out to be some happy creature :].

If I had some darker beads I could have given him some eyes and clothes but the other colors didnt match. Fortunately I found some beads on auction a couple of days ago that i bought. They should drop down in my mailbox any day now. With them I could probably sew something with more details :].

By the way, my boyfriend battles my theory that seedless, oval and elongated grapes are the tasties!

Definately tastier than the gigantic round ones.

I dont have any facts or actuall knowledge to support my radical grape statement but from my experience its simply something I’ve learnt.

Are there any grape enthusiasts out there that would agree with me? :]

Handbag project – an update

A couple of weeks ago I started to embroider on an old black textile bag my mom gave me.

Since I hadnt embroidered in this manner before I decided it would be a play-project were I would just improvise and come up with ideas as I work.

It started of real well and I had alot of fun with the motif but the further I got into to it i realized it doesnt really follow any pattern, it looks scattered,  there’s no thought behind it. Eventhough it looks quite funky I now feel I’d like it all to blend together somehow, the colors, not have so many outlined skulls ..for now it will stay unfinnished.

It was a good first time project tho. I recently bought some stuff from an auction (yes, again! :D), some sequins and new beads. Cant wait to get started with a new project! ^^

All I need is time. DAMN you time! why do you fly by so quickly every day? :(

Buttons with character

I bought the funky buttons on the first image today on an auction.

They are definately not for my coat :D but for a future project I have in mind. I’ve been thinking on making small purses and other fun stuff i could eventually sell. However I dont want to get of track now so I’ll tell you more about that idea later on ^^.

I really loved these fun and childish buttons, they have so much character! If use use them it will definately be on something very subtile and clean so that the button is the centerpiece of it all. :]

The second picture is just a collection of beautiful buttons that are being sold on tradera right now, not by me tho!

I loved how they are presented, they look so elegant, like little pieces of art. :]

Autumn leaves

Some pics I took on my way home.. Im kind of liking autumn right now, despite the awfull cold. :]

But as soon as these beautiful leaves fall to the ground I’ll start hating it again. >:o
