In my last post i showed you a comic strip about my dog Lula, well here she is in person (dog)!

I drawed her brown in the strip just because black made it hard to distinguish the outlines. She’s a midget-wienerdog, now 9 years old. She’s super-friendly and loves to lick things.

Here are some facts about my Lula:

She hates the mail-man and any bike that reminds her of a mail-man,

She hates people who move slowly since she things they are up to something shady.

She only barks at other dogs that are wearing a leach, if she sees that they are walking freely she acts stupid as if she doesnt see them and walks by very quickly.

Her chubby belly almost touches the ground (keep in mind that she has extremely short legs too).

Whenever she gets bored she starts humping my leg to get my attention.

This was Lulas 15 minuits of fame, Im glad you could be a part of it ^^

This is a little strip I made a couple of months ago and its about my little wienerdog Lula!

She’s the cutest dog ever but she is quite fat and extremely lazy, wich only adds upp to the funny character that she allready is. I might be the only one who finds it funny tho just because I know how well i managed to capture her character, hope you can appreciate it too without knowing her :]

My favorite graffiti artists!

Skrivet mars 27, 2009 kl: 5:47 e m

I dont know much about graffiti, it is not a huge interest of mine but here are some artists that since a long time ago managed to catch my eye and attention by their gorgeous and awesome characters. I do loooove characters!

Fafi

The first lady is the French graffiti artist ”Fafi”, she has since the early 90′s painted walls with supercute characters. her first ones were very simplified cute characters but with time they evolved into these sexy and flirty girls in cute oufits. I love them. In my imagination I AM one of them ^^ (i wish).

Miss Van

The second lady is also from France (hurray for France!) and she is the super talanted ”Miss Van”. She draws curvy, sexuall, sexy, provocative women in tiny clothing in beautiful pastel-colours. I find her paintings amazing! Super-feminine in every way from the colours to the brushstrokes and shapes of every character.

Os Gemeos

The third artist is a man, actually two men! Twin-men! They are two twin brothers from Brazil called ”Os Gemeos” (wich means ”twins”) and they make the coolest characters ever! They mix together awesome colours with lots of patterns and they draw characters in a way that manages to really bring them to life. Their posture, how they interact with their enviroment, I think these twins are pure geniouses!
Os gemeos are probably my favourites allthough the pictures I found do not to them justice. Their creativity inspires me greatly. <3

My home made beads

bead2bead3bead4bead6bead7bead8be2be1be3be5

Yesterday I decided to remake some beads I had at home. :] I documented the whole process and thought I’d share it with you.

1. Find some beads you dont really like (maybe cut up an old ugly bracelate you got laying around).

2. Take out your painting colours, acrylic dries fast so thats nice. Mix up the colour you want.

3. Paint them twice so they’re all covered in paint.

4. I painted some black hearts as details :]

5. Took out my glitter-glue!. (If you dont have glitterglue maybe you could glue on something

else or just paint more details).

6. Separated every bead with other plastic beads so it would be easier to apply small glitter-dots all around them. Then I let the glitter dry for about 40 minuits.

7. Put all the beads on a string and tied knots between all of them.

8. Dipped them in the varnish. (The reason for tying knots was so they would stay separated after I had dipped them in the varnish.)

10. I hung up the string with beads so they could dry. (Before haning them up I shaked of the excessive vernish spinning the string real fast, make sure you dont get it on yourself!).

11. Home made beads! The pink bracelet is made by beads I did in the same way months ago :].

Stupid me couldnt wait for the purple beads to dry tho (its taken more than a whole day for them to dry!) so I started poking on them and left marks so now they’re not as smooth as they should have been. All of the things I used when doing this were just things I had around the house, maybe you could try doing this too. :]

Hope you liked it, bye bye for today!

The Christmas card

Last christmas a close familyfriend of mine (she’s more like a cousin) asked me to draw her a christmas card that she could send out to all of her friends, family and co-workers.

Her name’s Amalia Gonzalez and she works as a beauty-reporter on a Swedish newspaper called Metro and so I wanted to draw her as a really beautifull and classy disney-like character.Im not used to drawing illustrations in this way, colouring with soft brushes trying to make it look smooth and realistic and such but I think it came out quite well. ^^I always find it hard to sell things to friends and family members. To actually ask them to pay me for something I’ve done feels so weird.. So I usually just give it away for free.  Saves me from the uncomfterbul situation of talking about money with them.

But some weeks later when I came home i saw that she had sent me this big goodie-bag filled with girly stuff! There were more things than there is on the photo now such as lipsticks, rouge and other stuff but I dont really use those things so I gave them to my aunties mom and aunties  ^^.

Could’nt have gotten a better reward for my job ^^. Thankyou Gonza!

This is an old print I competed with on threadless once. It didnt get enough votes that time but I liked it so much myself that I decided to keep working on it to try to post it again.

It’s alot bigger now than it was before and its looking better, but now I just can’t decide on what colors to use! These are just a couple of different tests Ive made but I keep changing my mind at the last second all the time. For now I think I’m gonna go with the brown one, its the latest one I’ve done and i like how strong the colors are in it.

Im pretty indecisive generally in life :D, when theres too many options and choices my brain just panics! :0

Wacom, whats the deal?

Skrivet mars 20, 2009 kl: 12:05 e m

wacomnibs

I remember that when I first bought my wacom intous 3 pad it came along a little plastic bag with several different pen nibs. I tried to change the nib that was allready in my pen but i never managed to get it out!

So after about 15 minuits of trying to get it out by screwing of the top, pulling and googleing I gave up and put the bag with all of the other nibs aside. Well, years have passed now and now I cant find that little bag of nibs! I used to think i wouldnt nrrd them but now I’ve noticed that my current pen nib is slightly tilting. If I just managed to change it the first time i certainly wouldnt have lost interest in them so quickly.I googled on it once to find out how other people were changing their pen nibs but they said that they either used tweezers to yank them out or just pulled them out using their teeth. :D

Is this really the way to do it? Didnt wacom make it easier to actually change nibs or did they expect their users to come up with their own weird, creative and aggressive solutions? It does’nt seem right.. should’nt there be an easier and more obvious way to change pen nibs? If you have the answers or your own creative solution to this issue, please share your knowledge with me ^^.

Grandma & chicken

This little drawing is made in a similar way as the Astor piazzola Poster I posted in a previous entry.

The motive to this one might seem a little strange ^^, but there’s a story behind it!

My grandmother had by the time I made this gotten very sick, suffering from diabetes for several years had made here home-bound and she would go from being very clearheaded at times to totally loose grip on where she was and what was happening. One day when my mom had taken vacation to go back and visit grandmom in Chile she said grandmom was sitting by the window looking out to the streets and quietly laughing by herself.

My mom and her other siblings looked at eachother wondering what was so funny so they asked my grandmom why she was laughing. Then she pointed out to the streets and said ”But look! Look at those little chickens walking in a row, they’re crossing the road.” ^^

I thought it was such a funny little story that I wanted to draw the two of them together, grandmom and the chicken with their special bound.

Armadillo Teapot

Skrivet mars 18, 2009 kl: 7:34 e m

This is an armadillo inspired fantasy creature-teapot I made in a ceramic class in school about three years ago.I made a little matching sugar bowl also so they would be a tiny set.

When working with ceramics I always found it hard to imagine how it would look like once it would come out of the oven. When painting it all of the colours would look quite similiar, really pale and greyish so it was always a suprise to see the final outcome and how the colours had evolved. I miss those classes :(

Astor Piazzolla poster

This is a poster I made about a year ago as a gift to my boyfriend, he loves to sample old music and this is one of his favourite musicians to sample :].

I’m not sure what the style its made in is called in english, i think it is ”dry-point” (?). You basically scratch on a hard plastic board with a needle-pointed pen, all the scratches you’ve made on the plastic board will later be filled with a thick colour-paste. The next step once youve filled all the scratches with color is to gently wipe of the excessive colour so that you see the drawing and all the lines youve scratched. Then you put a slightly wet and thick paper on it and slowly roll a huge press over it so the coloured lines transfer over to the paper. Voila! An Astor is made.

These presses are huge tho and i was only able to do this because I went in an old school print-graphic-school back then. It wasnt as kool as it sounds. Do not pay loads of money for artschools kids! They are often shady and extremely cheap(dont give you very much materials to work with). I learned alot more reading tutorials on internet during a month compared to what I learned there for a whole year. Dont we love the internet? ^^I should have known that a printing-graphic school wasnt for me tho, Ive never liked the pretentious artsy stuff, i like my things to come in handy in some way, not just be hung on a wall. Digital illustrations is much more suited for me, it feels much more practical. :]

Anyways.. there’s alot of detail-pics on this poster, I love how dirty the outcome is when you draw in this style, you get to see all the scratches and stuff. I even stepped and scratched the plastic board before i rolled it under the press, it gives it alot more character. You’ll see my little doggie on the last pic too :], my little depressed weinerdog. She didnt get to play as mush as she would have wanted today. Life aint fun when her owner stares at a screen all day. I’ll make up for it tomorrow tho. <3

My design got printed on Threadless!

threadlessbilder3

This was the first print I ever did for threadless, and luckily it won!

I didnt really like the position of it on the t-shirt tho and they changed the t-shirt color to some lemony one instead of cream, but still.. It will always be my baby ^^.

I prefer it on the kids shirt actually, hope theres some cute little kid somewhere rocking it out in my tee.

I’ve been working on several prints eversince I made this one weekes ago too but i havent had the time to finnish them of. They’re always ”aaallmost done” :(. I’ll show you the new ones as soon as they’re done.

If you are threadless members maybe you can support me then :].

If you’ld like to buy it you can do so here and if you’re a super-kind person you can vote for it as tee of the month here!

[Update: The t-shirt is not in store anymore! ]
